My journey into Data Science.

I have been on a mission to learn new knowledge every day as a part of growth. You can never know where life is taking you. I have always heard about the generation of big data and I have always wanted to solve real-world challenges with data. Well, let’s talk about my first week on the data science journey.

My journey into programming begun with the boredom of the Covid-19 lockdown. Everything in the world had stood still. As I was watching Youtube vlogs, “a day in the life of a software engineer in quarantine…”, I picked interest and watched the available free python tutorials on Youtube about the basics. It was quite interesting however, I didn’t understand how it is used in the real world.

With the power of social media, I received an ad to apply for a free 6 weeks data science class at PyLadies Kampala. I grabbed the awesome opportunity and applied for the course. So my journey has begun with just a click away (applying for the course). Data Science is the field of study that combines domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data.

Aspirations

I aspire to become a data scientist who can use data to generate insights and drive business value, be able to understand a business problem, collect and visualize data and develop models that can solve business problems.

Expectations from the program

I expect to be able to convert ideas into products, develop models for real-world applications, data structures, data collection, and visualization, and also work on projects.

Conclusion

I want to thank PyLadies Kampala for this fresh opportunity and for embarking me on my new journey.

The more I learn, the more I need to learn.
